This way, that way

Dear friends, I'm outta here for a few days! While I am not going to a glorious tropical island (as this photo of me in Maui last year would imply), I am going on what is technically a vacation and I am very excited. (I posted this photo for several reasons, most of them involving cute-as-hell booty and lots of sunshine - both of which make me happy). And I'm a little jealous of Leora, so I have to reminisce where I can.

Anyway, shop & blog will be quiet for a few days, and all purchases will ship when I get back. I will try to take photos (we'll be in lots of snow & stars), but no promises.  Wishing you and yours a glittering and joyous new year's eve.

and mama bear, too

Some of you might remember me mentioning last week that I had won a giveaway over at Flaming Hag Folkwear. I expressed much excitement about winning this particular giveaway, as Nicole is my very most favorite style icon in all of internet/blog-land. And that is saying a lot.

Anyway, my box of winnings arrived so perfectly timed - as we were doing family solstice gifts - and so I got to open a whole beautiful box of surprises just for me.

Needless to say, the gifts inside took my breath away. Thank you, dear universe and dear Nicole for bringing me these treats. True holiday magic!!

And to all, a goodnight....

Merry Christmas, y'all. Here I am on Christmas Eve about to run some last-minute errands with the boy. I'm wearing, of course, yet another variation on my everyday steez. I promise sooner or later I'll start wearing something not involving leggings and boots (but maybe not until it's warmer out!).

Wearing:

boots - vintage
leggings - F21
blue under-tee - thrifted
plaid shirt - thrifted
leather vest - vintage (borrowed from the shop)
macrame earrings - aforementioned here, handmade by magic child

Thank you to everyone who entered my giveaway!!! I love all you ladies mucho, and I will host another treasure-box giveaway quite soon. After deleting some duplicate comments and non-entries, the winner is....Heather from Moonshine Junkyard! How very fitting, since I just fell in love with her a few days ago.

Heather, please email or convo me with your address and I will ship your treasures.

AND, I'd like to send a special thank-you gift to Alex for being so supportive and for translating the scarf tag. So ladies, hit me up!

xoxo thanks again to all of you, it means a lot to have you here.

Oh, and here's the thingie:

Love & earrings

I recently got these AMAZING earrings from Magic Child on Etsy, and I love them. I will try to get a photo of them on my ears soon, they are stunning. Also, I am soooo busy today, so giveaway winner will be announced tonight!!!

Nevada City Craft Fair

Thank you to all who participated in the Nevada City Craft Fair! I'm not just talking shoppers and vendors, I'm also talking about some hard-working ladies (cough, and cough) who make good sh*t happen.

Aside from feasting my eyes on the general splendor, I got to hang out with Heather from Moonshine Junkyard and Becky from Velvet Leaf. Super inspiring adorable vintage vixens. Here they are:

In fact, you should check out Heather's blog entry on the fair, because it has lots of great photos and a good recap of the 2 days. (I stole this picture of me from her blog!):

I sold all Lost Boys & Lovers stuff and had to leave my vintage in the car due to a smaller booth than anticipated, but it all went well and I had a good time. The rain was crazy!! Pouring cats & dogs while I was unloading the car - luckily I brought some extra clothes.

Sommer and Winter were our booth neighbors - yes, those are their real names - how cute is that?!

Thanks again to all of you, and see you fine ladies next time!!

Siobhan Barrett in Lost Boys & Lovers

At the Chikoko craft fair a couple weekends ago, a sweet lady came in and bought herself a Lost Boys & Lovers leather harness as her Christmas present to herself (these are always some of my favorite kinds of gifts). She introduced herself (I thought she looked familiar) as Siobhan Barrett, local fashion designer and also the stylist at Chico-based LuLu's. She was kind enough to send me this photo of her wearing the harness, which (of course) looks perfect on her. Thanks Siobhan!

You can also read about her on the Lulu's fashion blog, here.

Fire, food & friends

Happy Solstice! May it bring you much fire & light, and may your next months feed the seeds that lay beneath your surface. It is this day that marks the eternal closeness of spring.

Translations

Thank you to all who have entered the giveaway so far and provided feedback on the scarf tag.  Big special thanks to miss Alex who sent me this email yesterday:

my mom was born in Ukraine & speaks Ukrainian, as well as Russian and Polish. she says the scarf is 100% wool and a reallly nice one. i could make out some, because i grew up speaking Ukrainian, but she told me the rest.

in the little emblem, the word that starts with pi is 'of Paul' and the word at the bottom means city or town. so basically Paul's city.

the next 2 lines basically mean that the scarf is manufactured in Paul's city

the large word that starts with pi means scarf in Russian

the words below that essentially mean that the scarf is pure - as in pure wool - and has a decorative border - the pink flower/polka dot part

the word before the 100% is wool

the word that starts with a is article - like article number

the word that starts with p means measurement

the word that starts with c is sort and then it says first - so basically mom said that means it's the best quality

the next work that starts with p means drawing, or perhaps a better translation is design? and then they stamped a number next to it

then again is Paul's city, the address

Happy Friday, everyone!

Gypsy Queen Solstice Giveaway

Dear friends,

Lately I've been inspired not just by the winter magic that fills the air, but also by the endless love and creativity of the people in my world. This particular giveaway is inspired by many things - mostly Nicole's giveaway (that i freaking won!!), and also Melissa was feeling the vibe, too; and I'm also currently working on a treasure trade with sweet Milla.

All these combined with other various forces leave me compelled to provide my own offering for all of you - here I've selected a gathering of gypsy treasures, all of which will be sent to one lucky lady. What you see in the photo is what you will get - a vintage gypsy rose scarf (can someone help me with identifying the language on the label?), a satin & lace vintage lingerie bag, vintage honey brown snakeskin clutch, vintage green glass perfume bottle with tiny carrying bag, vintage wooden mushroom box, a red ostrich feather, a long necklace of vintage tropical seed beads, a tube of sadieDELUXE-made Lip Bomb, and a vintage tooled leather hair fastener.

And, that is not all. I will select a crystal bullet pendant (handmade by me) to send to the winner. You can see a variety of them in my blog header, and a few of them here. They are very special and feel good to wear.

Whew! Now, the rules:
  1. Leave a comment to enter.
  2. If you are a follower, or become a follower, leave another comment indicating so as another entry.
  3. Finally, you can tweet/blog/Facebook about this giveaway for an additional entry. You may have up to three entries, and please leave a separate comment for each one.

The giveaway will end at 5 pm (Pacific Time) on December 22, and winner will be announced on December 23.

Thanks for all the inspiration and support I've found so far in all these adventures!
